What is OPAL?

OPAL, which stands for Outdoor Play and Learning, is our developing framework for enhancing children’s experiences by enriching outdoor environments and encouraging creative, active play. As part of this work, OPAL will help us improve lunchtimes for Reception through Year 6 and breaktimes for Year 1 through Year 6, creating more engaging, structured, and enjoyable play opportunities. We are at the beginning of this journey, and over the next 18 months to two years we will continue to build, refine, and embed the OPAL approach so it becomes a well-established part of how we support high-quality outdoor learning and play.
