Sports Round Up

It’s been a busy sporting half term. A huge thank you to all who have supported the children to attend these events by helping with transport. The pupils have shown great teamwork and represented Nonsuch very well so should all be proud of themselves.  Just a reminder if your child is invited to a sports event please do fill out the form by the return date as this gives us time to help with organising transport arrangements.  Please return any kit back by Friday 9th June.  Thank you once again.
Football

We have been very proud of our teams this year with the Boys making it through to the semi final in the Borough Cup and Y5 Sutton & Cheam Cup. Unfortunately, we lost out on both very hard fought games.  The girls also finished their season with a win against St Dunstans which gave them third place in the league.  Some of our players were selected to trial for the Y6 Sutton Borough teams and it has been exciting being able to offer this opportunity to them. Good luck to Amelia, Amber, Jessica, Illiakyia, Ollie, Finn, Cody and Jonas.  Congratulations also to Darcy and Rae who played regularly for the Y6 Borough team this season.

Netball

We finished our netball season with a win, a lose and a draw and then the girls went onto play in the Sutton Borough Netball Tournament held at Overton Grange.  The girls played really well and ended up finishing a close 2nd on points to the eventual winners, Dorchester, in their group just missing out on progressing by 1 goal!   We were very proud of their attitude and team work on the day.

Y3/4 Golf Competition
Some Y3 and Y4 children attended a tri golf competition last week at St Philomena’s High School, Carshalton. They participated in a range of activities, using both a club and putt and completed a carousel of eight tasks. Congratulations to them on coming second place overall!

London Youth Games SportsHall Finals

Following on from attending the Sportshall festival last term we were fortunate to be given a last minute opportunity to attend the Finals of the Sportshall event at Westcroft Leisure Centre.  The children took part in standing long jump, soft javelin, speed bounce, 5 strides and high steppers as well as relays.

The children represented Nonsuch really well and enjoyed every minute and worked really well as a team and giving each other wonderful support throughout the morning.

London Youth Games Red Ball Tennis Competition
We took 2 teams with pupils from Y3 and Y4 to the LYG red ball tennis over at Purley sports club. The pupils showed off their tennis skills in singles games and were up against some very talented tennis players.

Sutton Best Cricket Competition

A team of Y5 boys attended the Sutton Best Cricket tournament held at Beddington Cricket Club.  The standard of cricket shown by the boys who attended from Nonsuch and the other schools was extremely high with some outstanding bowling on display.  We progressed to the semi finals and finished 4th overall. The attitude and teamwork was very good and they kept their heads held high in some very tough matches.

Quad Kids Athletics

We attended Quad Kids athletics at Oaks Park High school.  This is an event where each pupil takes part in 4 athletics disciplines, vortex howler throw, 75m sprint, 600m run and standing long jump.  They also take part in a 50m shuttle relay.  They listened well and followed the instructions to make sure they were in the right place at the right time for their events.  Once again our pupils were great Nonsuch representatives enjoying the event, listening well to the organisers and  supporting each other loudly from the sidelines!
